NDB to get MDS expansion

Heals1810One of the country's top student design competitions is to be expanded for May Design Series 2015.

New Design Britain is to be expanded from 2015, with two more categories added to the existing four. The overhaul will also see new prizes for winners and a new judging panel.

Ten previous NDB winners will be exhibiting at this year's show, where an overall winner will be selected. Full details of the awards will be revealed at the show.

Meanwhile this year's event will see the introduction of a fabric pavilion, hosting 36 fabric companies around a champagne bar.

Those taking part will include Heal's, which has developed its first fabric collection – 1810 (pictured) – since the 1970s.

'Building on our heritage of working with and promoting emerging and established designers, our 10 exclusive designs celebrate colour and individuality. This is the first textile collection that we've developed since the 1970s, and we're thrilled to be exhibiting in the fabric pavilion,' says Pia Benham, Heal's head of fabric design.
