At Home stores star for John Lewis as quintet enjoy 40% sales lift
John Lewis's At Home stores were its star performers last week, with five branches posting sales increases of more than 40%.
Ipswich, Swindon, Chester, Croydon and Newbury all cleared the 40% mark, lead by Ipswich which achieved growth of 47.8%. Other At Home stores also performed well, with sales at Poople and Tunbridge Wells up a fifth.
Home sales rose by 19.8% as total sales rose by 20.5% in the week to 19 April.
'Arguably home's 19% showed most optimism. Inevitably Easter gifting lifted trade, but it was another steady build in furniture and furnishings that stood out, confirming our sense of opportunity in a strengthening market,' says Andy Street, John Lewis md.
