Shop Direct turns to technology for sales boost
Littlewoods and Very owner Shop Direct has become the latest retailer to turn to augmented reality to boost furniture sales.
The technology, which is being tested, will allow shoppers to see how products look in their rooms on an iPad.
'Furniture is the lowest converting part of our website, which will come as no surprise. Customers can't measure it, they can't feel it, they can't touch it. This technology will show how it fits into a room,' says Gareth Jones, Shop Direct group retail and strategy director.
The retailer follows the likes of Ikea, Barker & Stonehouse and Karndean in turning to augmented reality to give consumers a better idea of how products will look in their homes.
