Big Shots raises £26,000
The Furniture Makers' Company's annual clay pigeon shooting event Big Shots raised £26,000 for the charity.
'Our main sponsor for the day, Furniture Village, has done a marvellous job yet again, bringing in teams, further sponsorship and some excellent auction prizes. Many other companies have also made donations or sponsored the event, including Bentley Designs, Blum, Brighthouse, Celtheath, Clare Family Foundation, Collins & Hayes, Frank Hudson, G Plan, Haskins, Knoll, Sleepeezzee and tmwi,' says Jonny Westbrooke, FMC chief executive.
'And of course there are many individuals from within the furnishing industry who have joined us for the day and been generous with bidding in the auction and buying raffle tickets. We hope that everyone had a fun day out and enjoyed the variety of shooting challenges, and of course, the sunshine. We hope to see everyone again next year for our 21st Big Shots.
'Each year we support around 300 people with grants totalling over £117,000, showing that even a small charity can make a big difference to people's lives. Faced with unexpected events and financial hardship, many people find themselves struggling to meet essential costs. That's where we can step in to make things easier. This year we are doing even more, with far-reaching plans to help even more people, to expand our education programme and to continue to foster excellence in our industry. This is only possible through the support we receive at events like Big Shots.'
