Funeral to be held for Reg Symonds
The funeral of Reg Symonds will take place on 22 June after he died on 7 June, aged 85.
He started his life-long career in the interiors industry after national service in the RAF in the early 1950’s when he joined Blundells of Sittingbourne, after doing everything from deliveries, carpet fitting and selling he was promoted to manager.
He left in 1966 to start his career as a sales representative with Riding Hall Carpets, followed by Lancaster, Youghal Carpets, Velma, before returning to Lancaster and finally Cormar where he was southern sales manager until his retirement in 1993.
He is survived by his wife Nesta and six sons, five of whom are in the industry: Andy (Clarkes Furnishers, Maidstone); Les (Broadway Carpets, Tooting); Kelvin (Carpet Barn, Poole); Colin (Mr Carpet, Fulham) and Nigel (Mr Carpet, Putney). His remaining son Paul is an architect.
The funeral will be held at Poole Crematorium on 22 June at 1pm. The family has requested no flowers, but donations can be made to Royal Bournemouth Hospital Charity.
