BFM pays tribute to outgoing chairman
The BFM has paid tribute to its outgoing chairman John Alston, after he stood down following the sale of Alstons Upholstery.
At the association’s board meeting last week Alston stepped down after two-and-a-half years in the role.
To celebrate his 40 years in the industry and 12 as a BFM director of the BFM, a small luncheon was held after the Board meeting at Furniture Makers Hall. Invited guests included George Mitchell, past BFM chairman, Richard Ranklin and Charles Vernon; the latter were both part of the BFM Young Managers group with John and David Alston a quarter of a century ago.
Matt O’Flynn, Collins and Hayes md and new BFM chairman paid tribute to his predecesor’s work and presented him with a Award for Excellence for his work at the BFM. Jackie Bazeley, BFM md also thanked Alston for his service to the BFM and the personal support given to her.
Brian Ahern, BFM director has been appointed interim vice-chairman.
