Inflation falls back but furnishing prices pick up
Inflation fell back from 0.1% to 0% in June, despite higher home furnishing prices.
The Consumer Prices Index dropped from 0.1% to 0% thanks to falls in clothing and food prices, along with smaller rises in air fairs than a year ago according of the Office for National Statistics
RPI was unchanged at 1%.
Furniture, furnishings and carpets saw prices rise by 1.5% in June, compared with a rise of 1% in 2014. Furniture and furnishing prices rose by 2.3%, up from 1.5% in 2014 while flooring saw prices drop by 0.4%, compared with 2014’s drop of 0.8%.
Household textiles saw prices drop by 0.7% compared with 2014’s 0.1% rise and glassware, tableware and household utensils dropped by 0.8% compared with 2014’s 0.8% rise.
