Long Eaton unveils Centre of Quality initiative
Furniture manufacturers and the local authority have combined to hail Long Eaton as the ‘UK Centre of Quality Upholstery Manufacture’.
The town is home to more than 50 upholstery manufacturers and suppliers with a combined turnover of over £250m and employ in excess of 2,700 people and export to over 60 countries.
Funding from manufacturers and Erewash Borough Council has enabled Long Eaton Chamber of Trade and the council to work together to promote the branding. The two bodies believe that the brand will soon become a recognised symbol of quality.
Flower displays and Welcome to Long Eaton boards using the brand logo have been fitted on the platforms of the town’s railway station and the council is planning signs roads in Long Eaton.
A booklet has been produced to illustrate the importance of the upholstery industry to the town with a history spanning nearly 100 years.
Retailers buying from any of the companies listed in the booklet can use a logo to advertise that they stock Long Eaton manufactured products.
