Uttoxeter independent reopens after fire
Uttoxeter independent flooring retailer WN Davies has reopened three months after a fire seriously damaged the store.
An early evening fire at the Smithfield Road store on 20 May was tackled by four fire crews, who were at the scene for two-and-a-half hours.
Trevor Wright, WN Davies owner said he had been running the company from 'a lock-up and out of the back of the van' since the fire, which gutted part of the store and caused smoke damage to stock.
At the time of the fire he said his first thoughts were how he was going to fulfil orders.
WN Davies (pictured before the fire) was established by Bill Davies about 60 years ago, before being taken over by his son Michael. He retired in 2007 when Wright, a former fitter at the store, took over. Michael Davies still owns the store.
