Swan strengthens position with software deal
Retail software company Swan Retail has strengthened its position in the marketplace with the purchase of three applications.
Swan has acquired the intellectual property rights to the FRS, MIDAS and Manna applications, as well as all staff and assets, strengthening its position in its core market sectors of furniture retailing and department stores. These had been part of Torex Retail, which was bought by Micros Systems in 2012 for £162,5m, which was then in turn bought by Oracle in 2014. ‘We are retaining the many years’ worth of valuable knowledge and expertise of the current team and this will be complemented by Swan’s existing implementation resources and support infrastructure,’ says David Thompson, Swan md.
This acquisition positions Swan as one of the largest solution providers in two of its targeted retail sectors, adding over 100 retailers and 250 branches to its existing user base.
‘The combined organisation with its customer centric focus will provide a great extension to our service offerings to our clients. This acquisition propels Swan to the next level, with a solid platform to grow our market leading position and focus within our key market sectors. The additional software and technical resources will enable us to expand the functionality across our suite of industry leading solutions,’ says Thompson.
