Ulster Carpets tops NI interiors list
Ulster Carpets is the most profitable privately-owned interiors company in Northern Ireland.
Research by Ulster University Business School and accountancy firm Harbinson Mulholland found that the manufacturer was the 27th most profitable owner managed and family owned company in Northern Ireland.
In the year to the end of March 2016, Ulster made a pre-tax profit of £6.5m.
The most profitable company was grain importer W&R Barnett which made £36m.
‘Employing more than 50,000 people, the top 100 locally owned businesses are the core of future economic prosperity. With a backdrop of uncertainty brought about by our local political hiatus, Brexit and other international geopolitical jolts, it is only logical that more emphasis, around support and encouragement, is with our locally started, developed and owned businesses. We need more of our incredibly strong and entrepreneurial businesses to scale and internationalise,’said Michael McQuillan, Ulster University Business Institute and Centre for SME director.
