Big Shots raises £24,000 for industry charity

Interiors industry members from as far as Italy turned out to support The Furniture Makers’ Company’s clay pigeon shoot fundraiser, Big Shots, earlier this month, which raised £24,000 for the charity.

Around 140 people, making up 35 teams, took part in the 24th annual fundraiser, which was again held at the EJ Churchill Shooting Ground in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

Participants enjoyed a day of traditional clay pigeon shooting as well as some novelty stands, including axe throwing, paintballing marksmanship and the classic blunderbuss (pictured).

‘Yet again Big Shots delighted everyone who attended. It is one of our longest running fundraisers and always raises a significant amount of money for the charity as well as offering a great informal networking opportunity for industry colleagues. As always, we’d like to thank Furniture Village for its continued support in sponsoring and helping organise the day. We look forward to celebrating 25 years of Big Shots in 2019,’ said Hayden Davies, The Furniture Makers’ Company master.

‘This has definitely become the social event of the year within our fantastic industry and, with the 25th anniversary next year, we’re looking forward to putting together something special. On behalf of all the team at Furniture Village, thank you for your continued support of Big Shots and The Furniture Makers’ Company,’ said Charlie Harrison, Furniture Village director of multichannel and organiser of the event.

Full results of the competition were:

Top Gun (Male): Roland Govier (J H Haskins & Son);

Top Gun (Female): Nikki Verster (Furniture Village);

Top Gun (Novice): William Porter (Gryphon Property Partners);

Top Team: Haskins Hot Shots (J H Haskins & Son);

Bottom Team: Greenlight Gunners (Greenlight Commerce);

The 25th anniversary event of Big Shots will take place on Thursday 6 June 2019.
