Today the company is still family owned and at 62,000sqft the store is ‘the largest in the south-east of England selling quality furniture’.

This summer the store received a makeover as it prepares for its next major milestone.

‘Our results for 2017 reflect our ongoing investment and commitment to make, sell and deliver the most comfortable beds across the UK. We have continued to provide market-leading quality, value and choice alongside a first-class customer experience,’ said Mike Logue, Dreams ceo.

‘While the UK consumer economy continues to face challenges, this set of results puts us in a strong position at the outset of the year. We continue to see significant interest in the UK mattress market and remain confident in our ability to execute and deliver our strategy,’

Investment included eight new stores, taking the number to 190 and 23 store refurbishments; £1.8m on its website (online sales rose 15% over the year); two new home delivery centres and extending its Oldbury factory, increasing production capacity by nearly a third.
