Bensons and Harveys join Christmas present appeal

Bensons for Beds and Harveys have joined Magic Radio’s Cash For Kids appeal to support Mission Christmas to distribute thousands of gifts to disadvantaged children across the country.

The campaign asks listeners to buy an extra gift this Christmas and drop it off at their local Bensons for Beds or Harveys store.

The stores will have Magic Mission boxes, where toys will be collected and then delivered to thousands of children all over the country. Last year the appeal generated upwards of £17m in gifts and donations that were distributed to more than 400,000 disadvantaged children across the UK.

Bensons for Beds recently announced a new radio partnership with Magic Radio, where it has sponsored Magic Breakfast and evening show Mellow Magic.

‘We’re delighted to be part of an initiative that encourages the community to come together and help make a difference. Every child should have a special Christmas, and Mission Christmas inspires us all to dig a little deeper this festive season for children who might not otherwise receive a gift,’ said Helen Nunn, Bensons for Beds and Harveys head of media and planning.

Sally Aitchison, md of the charity Cash for Kids, which organises Mission Christmas, said: ‘This Christmas across the UK one in four children will be living in poverty. For these families Christmas is a luxury they cannot afford. We are thrilled to have the support of Bensons for Beds and Harveys enabling supporters to drop off a new and unwrapped gift in any of their stores across the UK up to 18 December. We will then ensure the gift reaches a child not expecting a visit from Santa this Christmas.’
