Interiors products would face no tariffs in event of hard Brexit
Furniture and flooring imports would not face tariffs in the event of a hard Brexit, according to draft proposals published by the Government.
The 1,477 page document (pictured) shows that furniture, flooring and lighting would have a 0% tariff.
However the document appears to be a work in progress. Underlay for example is only mentioned once in chapter 57 covering ‘Carpets and other textile floor coverings’ and that is to say ‘This chapter does not cover floor-covering underlays.’
Under a temporary scheme 87% of imports by value would be eligible for zero-tariff access.
MPs are due to vote on a No-deal Brexit on Wednesday evening.
