Milan Design Week day two: Illulian reaches for the sky
Illulian celebrated its 60th anniversary by introducing several rug designs at its city centre showroom.
Sottosopra 2 by Fabio Novembre (pictured) captivates the observer thanks to its playful perspective and catapults them into the architecture.
The Cocarde rug, designed by Cristina Celestino for Illulian, takes inspiration from a delicate micro-textile structure: the cockade. A ruffled and pleated ribbon, originally symbol of vanity, becomes the designer's new investigation tool. Observed in its complexity, made of structural and chromatic folds, the composition conveys an original yet symbolic language. The swirls of the cockades create the pleasant appearance of a small rose, where the regular movement of the ribbon matches with the appealing colours.
