Housing transactions fall
The number of houses sold in the UK fell last month, compared with 2018.
According to figures from HMRC there were 89,810 transactions in May, the second consecutive month that transactions were below 90,000.
HMRC says non-seasonally adjusted sales were 5.8% lower than in 2018, and similar to those seen in 2016.
The seasonally adjusted number of transactions fell by 6.4% between April and May and was 11.3% lower than May 2018.
