JFS: Why making is important for Marque
Marque Furniture introduced its first range of furniture as it made its JFS debut.
While it may have been its first collection, its designers include Ben Fowler, Simon Pengelly, John Weaver and Nell Beal: united by the fact that they all are furniture makers who learned their trade at the bench before becoming designers.
‘Our mission for the Marque Furniture collection is to deliver beautiful pieces which are an expression of designers who are makers, and makers who are designers, direct to market,’ says Fowler.
‘We’re allowing ourselves complete creative freedom to develop furniture which encapsulates elegant design and fine cabinetmaking that will become heirlooms, cherished for their character, quality of material, and beauty in detail.’
The range include living and dining furniture, stools, tables, a desk and a bed, using solid woods including European Sweet Chestnut, Walnut, Ash and America Cherry.
