More than half of Beales’ stores to close
The administrators of department store chain Beales, est. 1881, is to close more than half of its stores, including its flagship branch.
KPMG said its efforts to sell the 23-store chain had failed and 12 stores, including its Bournemouth flagship, would close in the next few weeks remaining stock is sold.
The others are: Hexham; Worthing; Tonbridge; Peterborough; Mansfield; Keighley; Perth; Spalding; Wisbech; Bedford and Yeovil.
KPMG says it would continue to trade the remaining branches. "
‘There is currently no intention to implement closure plans for the remaining 11 stores, which will all continue to operate as usual until an outcome with regards to a sale of the business is clarified,’ it says.
