House of Reeves marks riot anniversary with vInspired photomontage
House of Reeves has approached the anniversary of the destruction of its main Croydon store by transforming its surviving store with the help of charity vInspired.
As part of the charity's Reverse Riots campaign, the store has been covered in thousands of photographs of young people holding positive messages about themselves.
'The positive legacy of the riots was the coming together of people of all ages and from all walks of life to help mend the capital. We were overwhelmed by the support that was offered to our family and many others affected in the days and weeks that followed, says Trevor Reeves, HoR director.
'We are blessed with so many bright, inspirational and positive young people in this country and I believe it's important that we don't allow the actions of such a few cloud our judgment of the many.'
To mark Wednesday's anniversary the store will officially open two showrooms created from a former storeroom with a display of photographs and memorabilia from the destroyed store. The vInspired photographs will remain on the store until 13 August.
