Interiors quintet share Queen’s Awards

Flair Munro RustFive interiors companies have been awarded Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.

Organic mattress retailer and manufacturer The Natural Mat Company and Hypnos won awards in the sustainable development category.

‘Through passion, dedication and commitment we have created a wide-ranging, impactful sustainability plan that is industry-leading and reaches every area of the business. We are incredibly proud that our work here has been recognised with this Queen’s Award, our second within three years,’ says James Keen, Hypnos ceo.

‘Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do and we’re not afraid to challenge the way the bed industry does things for the benefit of the environment and communities around the UK and the world. Our partnership with Red Tractor is a prime example of this. This industry-first collaboration with them has allowed us to use 100% British wool that’s traceable right back to Red Tractor assured farms, creating a new level of authentic traceability.’

Chalk and mineral furniture paint manufacturer Frenchic was awarded an award in the innovation category.

‘I am so proud to announce that our amazing company and community have won a Queens Award, an accolade of the highest honour. The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is the most prestigious award for a UK business, recognising and celebrating business excellence across the UK. They are awarded to businesses for outstanding achievement and we’ve won in the category of Innovation which makes me burst with pride because I’ve always been so passionate about progress, promotion and innovation within the chalk paint industry. This cements our standing as a modern, exciting and flourishing British business - and one in which our team, stockists and customers are its very core. To be recognised alongside other business greats such as Dyson and Jaguar Land Rover is simply fantastic but also humbling,’ says Pam Gruhn, Frenchic founder.

‘It’s also a very tangible award - you’ll now be seeing The Queen’s Award logo on all of our paint tins and projects, and our wonderful stockists can proudly display our Award of Honour on their Frenchic displays in their shops. So from a solo launch of my paint company working from my dining table five years ago with zero stockists to now over 560 stockists around the world on four continents we have grown and grown. However, this award is for the entire team, especially my loyal stockists and customers who have all been so crucial to receiving this from the Queen. It’s a symbol of our success, quality, point of difference, and passion - here’s to another brilliant five years and more and thank you all so much for supporting my little company.’
