Home continues to power on for John Lewis

jlbeddingChain continues its sales run.

John Lewis continued where it left off with another strong week of sales. Home sales leapt from growth of 0.6% to 8.8%, in the week ended 3 November. As per the previous week, bed line and lighting were the best performers.

Home sales for the 14 week period were 7% higher.

'Home also enjoyed a powerful week as we approach the peak autumn home furnishing weeks. The star turns were Bed Linens and Lighting, where the Cosy Night in theme matched the weather perfectly', says Andy Street, John Lewis md.

'Johnlewis.com led in impressive form with a 45% advance. All areas prospered online, with agile responses to the competitive market. Click and collect again doubled last year's volumes. Our contact centres at Hamilton and Didsbury passed last year's total sales.

Meanwhile, all but four shops built on 2011's numbers. The lead was handsomely taken by Trafford with an outstanding result (plus 30%), followed hotly by Croydon, Cardiff (plus 27.9%), Poole (plus 19.3%), Norwich (16.8%), Cambridge (plus 15.2%), and Milton Keynes (plus 15%). Swindon, Solihull and Nottingham all registered around 13%, and Oxford Street made its vital contribution of plus 12%. Meanwhile, the debutante in Exeter continues to impress.'
