Chain to focus on high street
South of England furniture and flooring chain Sturtons & Tappers is to close its out-of-town branch to focus on its high street branches.
The chain is to close its Salisbury store on 3 March. The purpose built 17,000sqft branch was opened in 2001.
'Both the other sites [Winton and Wimborne] are in high street locations, are more traditional and provide a wider range of furnishings. The Salisbury branch is a different style of trading. We are still doing good business there but we don't see that increasing much in the future,' says David Scott, Sturtons & Tappers director.
The store's three members of staff have been invited to apply for jobs at the Dorset stores.
