TOFS turns to Page as new boss
Variety retailer The Original Factory Shop has turned to former Woolworths and Asda executive Tony Page as its new boss.
Page was head of non-food at Asda before joining Woolworths in 2006 as commercial and marketing director and has also run Lloydspharmacy.
'Value and convenience retail are both becoming increasingly attractive to the UK consumer, as evidenced by their growing share of market. I am excited by the opportunity to capitalise on The Original Factory Shop's unique retailing position, whereby customers can access quality brands at factory shop prices, to expand the company's foothold across the UK whilst also increasing earnings growth. I look forward to working with the team,' says Page.
David Williams, chairman of the 184 store chain says: 'I am delighted that Tony is joining as chief executive and we look forward to welcoming him to the board. Tony has extensive and relevant experience within UK retail and we are confident that he will successfully accelerate the company's ambitious growth plans as we continue to invest in new convenience department stores, serving many small communities across the UK.'
