Furniture retail inflation jumped to its highest level in at least a year last month.
CPI for household furniture rose from 0.5% to 1.8% in May, according to ONS data.
Bedroom furniture saw the largest increases.
A year ago the sector was experiencing deflation of 2.7%.
Garden furniture ended a run of at least a year of deflation, with inflation of 0.2%. This was in contrast to deflation of 22.4% in May 2024.
Deflation continued for lighting, although the rate dropped from 4.2% to 1.7%. The sector has seen deflation since July 2024.
