Furniture sales leap at John Lewis
John Lewis achieved another increase in home sales last week, helped by a major rise in furniture sales.
The department store chain increased home sales by 0.9% in the week to 8 March. This was fuelled by a 15.2% increase in furniture sales. 'Upholstery sales were up 18.5%t thanks to a strong performance on seven-day delivery,' says Meg Lustman, John Lewis fashion buying director.
Overall sales were up 6.6% at £72.76m, which Lustman says is 'a fantastic result as last year's performance included Mother's Day sales'.
