Muuna scoops Launch Pad Blue Drop award at MoOD
Leicester based material studio Muuna won the Launch Pad Blue Drop award at the MoOD fabric exhibition in Brussels.
The Launch Pad section of the exhibition hosts start-up businesses and designers have been in the industry for five years or less. It is in its third year at the show and was expanded this year after curator Trendease International successfully ran a crowd-funding project.
Muuna designer Hannah Croft’s won the award for her white multi-textural trim featuring digitally embroidered coral appliques with hand macramé vinyl and grown crystals which creates an ethereal and sculptural surface for decorative interior or fashion applications. It is part of Artificilae//Matter, a collection in which crystals are grown from woven and embroidered fabrics to create mineral surfaces of cultivated embellishment. Fabrics are made to order and can be tailored to client specification.
Other Blue Drop winners were: Strong Identity: Imatex; Colour Passage: Teksko Kadife Kumas; Circular Material: Audejas; Remarkable Technique: Big Impact and Best Contract: De Poortere Frères.
