The National Bed Federation is to debut an upgraded Retail Champions Scheme for retailers and introduce the sixth version of its audited Code of Practice for members later this year.
The free Retail Champions Scheme will see an optional fee-paying benefits package added. The initiative was launched in 2020 for retailers who predominantly stock NBF-approved member brands, with its primary goal to assure consumers that the beds they purchase meet the highest safety standards and improve consumer awareness concerning the rigorous and independent testing that NBF members undergo as part of the Code of Practice. Existing complimentary benefits include a listing on the Bed Advice UK website and a free POS pack.
The new package not only expands the existing scheme but also aims to enhance support for retailers in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Retail Champion status is given to stores where at least 50% of beds sourced from the UK and Ireland are from NBF members. Premier Retail Champion status is when 100% of UK and Ireland-sourced beds are manufactured by NBF members. This status reflects a strong commitment to honesty and safety, fostering greater consumer trust.
In a market where consumer choice is abundant, having a strong brand reputation and access to valuable resources is essential and the upgraded benefits package, starting from £250 a year, will include expert guidance on the latest product-related legislation, Bed Show VIP access, consumer bed-buying research, assistance with HR issues, health & safety, legal matters, tax/VAT and more.
Recognised as Assured Advice by trading standards, the Code of Practice sets out criteria for ensuring processes and procedures are in place for supply chain scrutiny and regulatory compliance.
