Gary O’Donnell, Sterling Home buying director has retired from the chain after a third of a century.
O’Donnell became buying director in October last year but had spent the previous two decades running five of the group’s retail brands: Forrest Furnishings, Martin and Frost, Archibalds, Thomsons World for Furniture and Anderson & England.
‘What a tremendous and incredible journey it has been. Starting in furniture sales and then heading my way through the ranks to become md over a number of subsidiaries. It truly has been an honour and the 33 years genuinely feels like three. The only reason for this apparent loss of time is because it has been such a pleasure working with wonderful people in stores across Scotland and in the wider furniture trade,’ he says.
‘My next chapter begins with long overdue home renovations and working in the garden. I’m sure this is going to keep me well exercised. I’m also sure the company will go from strength to strength and I would like to wish everyone at Sterling Home every success for the future and thank them for the wonderful send off.’
