Non-food retail footfall bounced back in the past week.
After seeing a 12.3% fall in the Bank Holiday week, despite increased traffic over the Bank Holiday weekend itself, footfall recovered lost ground and was 5.4% lower than 2019.
In the week to 4 September, retail parks were just 0.2% below 2019 (-9.1% the previous week), according to Ipsos’ Retail Traffic Index.
High streets were down 6.5% (-9.1%) and shopping centres 9% lower (-14.8%).
South West England and Wales saw the best regional performance, 0.8% higher than 2019 (-8.7%) while the Midlands was poorest performing at -7.7% (-14%).
