Wayfair targets time poor diy-ers in Taskrabbit link-up

Wayfair has introduced a furniture assembly service for shoppers in England and Wales.

Taskrabbit will offer the service, for example charging £69.99 for a four-shelf bookcase which has 18 pieces and 108 fixings.

Shoppers can order the service – which had been limited to London – at checkout, and Wayfair hopes the service will lift flatpack sales.

It says consumer research has found that almost two-thirds of people have made mistakes during assembly and 44% say they have delayed assembly after purchase because of a lack of time.

‘This partnership is a key step in expanding Wayfair’s offering beyond delivery to a more complete home shopping experience. By integrating assembly at checkout, we’re removing a significant friction point for customers and making it easier to shop confidently for larger and more complex items,’ says William Merricks, Wayfair UK general manager.
