Andreu World has released the Valencia Stool, designed by Patricia Urquiola to raise funds for those it by last year’s flooding in the region.
‘This stool is deeply inspired by the emotional and physical impact of the natural disaster that affected the Valencia region, displaying a deformed appearance, as if it had been hit by the force of water and challenged by adversity. The interlaced texture evokes the resilient spirit of a community that overcomes difficulties,’ says Urquiola.
Manufactured using 3D printing with biological, biodegradable and compostable materials, the Valencia Stool is an invitation to act responsibly. Each piece sold through the Andreu World network will contribute entirely to the reconstruction of the affected areas and to the support of the affected communities.
‘Every time a natural catastrophe occurs anywhere, we should sit down a moment and think about whether there is a better way of doing things so that the world we live in can continue to be habitable. The consequences in Valencia have been dramatic for a significant part of the population. We must not forget this and it is up to us to ensure that it does not happen again. We must be mindful that everything we do today has consequences tomorrow and be aware that it is necessary to adopt sustainable practices if we want to have a future that is also sustainable. Right now there is the urgency to rebuild everything that nature has destroyed, being supportive is the first thing we must do, because that sustainability must also include the social aspect.
