The retail value of flooring sales jumped on a monthly and annual basis in August.
The value of sales in England, Scotland and Wales rose by 7.93% to £250,447,000 compared with July 2024.
Compared with August 2023 sales were up 12.75%.
Sales were also higher than in August 2022 (£211,250,000) and August 2021 (£178,133,000).
Of the 464 months since the Office for National Statistics introduced comparable data in January 1986, August 2024 was the 20th best performing month.
The date is non-seasonal, does not allow for inflation and is subject to revision.
