JAY-BE

‘Everyone at Jay-Be works incredibly hard to deliver the best products, innovation and service we can, so recognition like this from Interiors Monthly readers really does mean a lot, and we’d like to thank everyone who voted for us,’ says Roger Durrans, Jay-Be md.

‘We’ve been making folding beds for around 60 years now, and one of the things we’ve learned is that a temporary bed should feel solid, stable and comfortable all night, just like a permanent bed. So, every Jay-Be folding bed, even our entry-level models, is made to the same British and European standards as regular permanent beds. And, as far as I’m aware, no other folding bed manufacturer achieves this.

‘We still make our folding beds in Yorkshire and export to more than 20 countries, and we’re constantly innovating: investing in new machinery, automation and product development to improve comfort, durability and value. For example, our latest Modern Folding Bed Collection has patented brackets made from recycled plastic. These give more functionality than traditional brackets, but they’re also designed to make recycling easier at the end of life. This is one of our core principles. Whatever we’re designing – mattresses, sofa beds or folding beds – we’re committed to our three core principles: comfort, health and sustainability.

‘Folding beds are at the heart of our heritage, but today we’re proud to manufacture
a broad range of responsibly made sleep products, from children’s mattresses and
adult mattresses to premium sofa beds.

‘Manufacturing in the UK has certainly become more challenging, but we’ve always believed the answer is to keep innovating and investing. Our manufacturing roots stretch back around 200 years, and the vast variety of skills, craftsmanship and expertise we’ve developed over that time give us something truly special as a manufacturer, and capabilities that we couldn’t simply outsource.

‘We’re always looking for the next opportunity to improve the way people sleep. One of our key philosophies is “We do the science, you do the sleep,” and that really sums up what we’re doing right now.

‘You’ll see in early 2027 some really exciting new products featuring smarter technologies and new inventions that we believe will enhance not only comfort but
also help the industry be more sustainable.

‘Thank you once again to Interiors Monthly readers, and to our customers for their continued support, and we look forward to sharing our latest innovations very soon.’
