Business rates holiday extended in Scotland until 2022

Retailers in Scotland will not have to pay business rates until April 2022.

The Scottish Government has extended the business rates holiday for the retail, hospitality, leisure and aviation sectors until March 31, 2022.

Last month the Scottish Government said it would extend the holiday until 30 June 2021. Now this will run until next year after confirmation of a further £1.1bn of consequential funding arising from UK Government coronavirus spending.

The business rates holiday in England is currently due to end on 31 March. The UK Government recently urged councils in England to delay issuing business rates bills until after the Chancellor sets out the Budget on 3 March.
