Carpets 4 Less buying director retires

Arthur Goakes, Carpets 4 Less buying director has retired from the retailer after a 40-year career at the 20-store chain.

‘Arthur’s Retirement Day finally came. He had a lovely day and was presented with his Retirement Book, lots of gifts, a beautiful cake, wonderful memories and tributes from you all. He wore his Christmas shirt in celebration. Arthur never needs much of an excuse to enter into the spirit of Christmas no matter what time of year it is,’ says Malcolm Gordon, Carpets 4 Less director.

‘Arthur and his wife have a lovely weekend break to look forward to at the end of this month to Studley Castle in Warwickshire. We also bought some garden centre vouchers, as one of his projects that he has in mind, now he has more time on his hands is to grow some vegetables and repair his shed. Finally, the remaining amount went towards a new iPad for him. He also received other individual gifts which some preferred to give. All of which were very much appreciated.

‘In Arthur’s own words: “The day could not have gone any better and I was overwhelmed by all the gifts and good wishes.” Never one to show his emotions and feelings- I think it is safe to say he was absolutely blown away.’
