cc-tapis introduces direct to consumer collection

Rug producer cc-tapis has launched a direct to consumer ecommerce collection.

In its tenth year it has introduced its first fashion collaboration, linking with designer Marco de Vincenzo and introducing a different production technique from its current offer.

‘cc-tapis rugs are extremely artisanal with prices and lead times which are not always suitable for the fast-paced world of e-commerce. A new kind of product had to be developed, something that would stay true to the brand’s artisanal identity, but with delivery and prices in line with today’s online shopper. Instead of the Tibetan hand-knotting technique, a handloom production technique was chosen, an artisanal hand-weaving technique native to India,’ says the company.

This switch will allow it to retain its artisanal details while allowing for large production runs.

de Vincenzo is known for his use of metallic shades of lurex and this is what the new collection uses. The MDV range offers a runner and three sizes of rug, with rug prices starting from £869, significantly lower than cc-tapis’s Tibetan made rugs.
