Former Olympic champion and Sleepeezee brand ambassador Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill has urged consumers to combine quality sleep with a exercise regime as part of World Sleep Day and National Bed Month.
‘Quality sleep has played a crucial role in my performance as an athlete and as a busy working mum. When I get a good night’s sleep, I can see that that I perform better physically and mentally. At the same time, I know that having a good exercise routine contributes to me having a better and healthier night’s sleep. Exercise and sleep truly are a winning combination that can help boost your everyday performance whatever you are doing.
‘Moderate cardio exercise can assist you to fall asleep faster, improve sleep efficiency and sleep quality. Keep your workouts varied with a mix of cardiovascular, resistance (strength) and flexibility (yoga or similar). Pretty much all forms of exercise should help ease the day’s stresses and strains which in turn leads to a better night’s sleep Avoid intense exercise too close to bedtime, perhaps try to include exercise into your morning or lunchtime routine.
‘Today, with improved technology, we can track the hours and minutes we are asleep, and we can also track the quality of sleep that we are having. As well as daily exercise, I strongly believe that investing in a good quality mattress can significantly contribute to a better night’s rest, which is why I’m proud to be supporting Sleepeezee with the Jessica Range.’
World Sleep Day takes place on 14 March while NBM runs throughout March.
