The annual retail inflation rate for flooring dropped below 10% for the first time since November 2022.
The rate dropped from 10.3% to 9%, according to the Office for National Statistics.
ONS said the fall was helped by lower prices of tufted carpets.
The rate for carpets and rugs dropped from 10.7% to 8.3%.
In contrast the rate for smooth flooring jumped from 9.3% to 15.3%.
Of the past 12 months only three times has the rate been 13.6% of below, with May 2022 the highest at 21%.
