Retail footfall rose last week but the gap to 2019’s level widened.
Footfall across all UK retail destinations rose by 1.5% last week, compared with the week before, with high streets enjoying a 2.5% rise along with a 1.7% increase at shopping centres. Retail parks saw a 1.1% drop, according to Springboard.
Compared with 2019 footfall was 14.8% lower, an increase on the 13.4% drop sen the week before.
In high streets, the decline grew to 16.5%, up from the previous 15.1% while shopping centres saw numbers 22% lower, up from the previous 20.7%.
Retail parks also saw footfall decline, but at a lower overall level. Footfall was down 3.5% on 2019, worse than the previous week’s 1.9% drop.
