Non-food retail footfall dropped back further in the past week as the impact of economic concerns deterred shoppers.
Footfall was down 16.7% compared with 2019 in the week to 19 June. This compares with a drop of 15.2% in the previous week, according to Ipsos’ Retail Traffic Index.
Shopping centres were particularly badly hit, with footfall down by 22%. High streets saw a 17.8% drop while retail parks saw 8.4% less visitors.
Either end of England were the best performing regions, with footfall down 11% in the South West and by 14.1% in the North.
