Non-food retail footfall slipped further back in the past week.
Footfall was 20.8% lower than the same week in 2019, according to the Ipsos Retail Traffic Index for 23-29 May.
This compares with drops of 16.5% and 14.4% in previous weeks.
Unusually retail parks – normally the best performer – suffered the same drop as high streets with a 19.9% drop, while shopping centres saw a 21.5% decline.
South-west England and Wales saw the worst performance, down 24.2% on 2019, while London and the South-east saw a decline of 19.9%.
