Non-food retail footfall showed a significant boost for the second consecutive week, but was still we short of 2019 levels.
Footfall was down 13.1% in the week to 9 October. However, this was a major improvement on the 17.5%% drop the previous week, and 28.1% the week before that.
High streets saw a major pick up, with footfall 10.8% lower than 2019, compared to a drop of 17.7% the previous week.
Retail parks suffered a reversal with footfall 10.8% lower, compared with the previous week’s -9.6%.
Shopping centres continued to be unpopular with shoppers, with numbers down 17.4% on 2019, although this was an improvement on the previous week’s 21.5% drop.
Northern England was the best performing area, with footfall down 11.4%, according to the Ipsos Retail Traffic Index.
