Footfall sees major improvement

Non-food retail footfall enjoyed a major boost in the past week.

Footfall was down 6.8% on 2019, compared with 15.6% the previous week (and 11% the week before).

Retail parks regained their popularity with footfall down by 4.9%, according to the Ipsos Retail Traffic Index for the week ended 21 August.

High streets saw a drop of 6.5% and shopping centres 7.4%.

Footfall in Wales and the south-west of England almost returned to pre-pandemic levels, just 0.3% lower.
