Non-food retail footfall improved in the week before the Bank Holiday.
Footfall in the week to 1 May was 11.5% lower than in 2019, an improvement on the previous week when it was -12.8%.
Retail parks continued to be the best performing retail sector, down 6.5% on 2019 according to Ipsos’s Retail Traffic Index; this was followed by shopping centres (-14.2%) and high streets (-16%).
Towns saw a drop of 7.8% compared with cities of 13.9%.
The north of England was the best performing region (-12.7%) and Scotland and Northern Ireland the worst (-16%).
