Retail footfall returned to 85% of pre-pandemic levels this morning as non-essential retailers re-opened in England and Wales.
According to data from Springboard, footfall at 10am across the UK – non-essential retailer has yet to re-open in Northern Ireland and Scotland – was down 14.7% on 2019. In normal times the majority of those in employment would be at work at 10am on a Monday morning. A more accurate indication of is likely to have to wait until the weekend.
Compared to 5 April 2021, footfall was 218% higher. Shopping centres saw an increase of 339.7%, 232.8% in high streets and 58.2% on retail parks.
