Footfall swings again

Non-food retail footfall showed a marked improvement in the past week, but remains significantly below pre-pandemic levels.

Footfall jumped by 14% in the week to 26 February, as shoppers returned after the previous week’s storms.

However the despite the increase, numbers were still down on 2019 by 18.6%, according to Ipsos’ Retail Traffic Index.

Retail parks preformed the best, down 10.9% on 2019; followed by shopping centres (-18.4%) and high streets (-25.3%).
