Fuorisalone: JOV and Bieke Casteleyn reunite

Rug brand JOV and fellow Belgian company reunited at Piazza San Marco, with JOV and the furniture maker

‘When we presented together during Milan Design Week 2022, we saw how strongly visitors responded to Belgian design and craftsmanship. That experience confirmed our shared vision and made us eager to collaborate again,’ says Bieke Casteleyn.

The project draws from two main sources of inspiration. At its core is the organic clover shape, a recurring element in Bieke Casteleyn’s design language and the point of departure for her new furniture collection. This form is interpreted across a coffee table, mirrors, a side and night table, and is subtly echoed in one of JOV’s newl rugs, establishing a dialogue between furniture and textiles.

Alongside this, 1970s and mid-century references shape the overall mood of the space, expressed through warm tones, tactile materials, and retro-inspired silhouettes.

For JOV, this translated into a series of rugs developed around dots and squares, familiar geometric forms reinterpreted with graphic clarity and contemporary sensitivity. A palette of buttery neutrals, honey, tangerine, chocolate, and muted rusty accents recalls the atmosphere of the 1950s through the 1970s, while remaining refined and current.

When paired with the softer curves and organic forms of Bieke Casteleyn’s furniture, the rugs introduce contrast and rhythm, creating a balanced interplay between softness and structure, past and present.
