Golf day raises £10,000 for furnishing charity

Barker and Stonehouse’s annual golf day raised £10,000 for furnishing charity The Furniture Makers’ Company.

‘Barker and Stonehouse is proud to support The Furniture Maker’s Company, a charity that provides much needed support for those in the furnishing industry. We have been hosting the Barker and Stonehouse annual golf day in aid of this cause for decades and we were very happy to be able to continue this tradition,’ says James Barker, Barker and Stonehouse md.

‘Barker and Stonehouse is a long-time and much-valued supporter of our charity, and we want to extend our thanks for once again organising a very enjoyable fundraiser that was incredibly well attended. The visibility of the charity among people in the trade has increased significantly over the past 18 months, due to the impact of the pandemic, resulting in us awarding more money than any other commensurate period in our history. The money raised from the event will go towards providing this vital support service to those in the industry who have fallen on hard times,’ says Paul von der Heyde, The Furniture Makers’ Company chairman of trustees, who concluded proceedings by highlighting the vital work the charity continues to perform in supporting people from the trade who are experiencing financial hardship (pictured).

The winners of the eight cups were: Richard Bracken (Best Visitor), Michael Crack (1-9 Handicap), Paul Gundry (10-15 Handicap), Tobin James (16-28 Handicap), Paul Millard (Best Overall), David Gundry (Veteran), Steve Peck, Richard Bracken, Chris Gibson and Nik Tunley (Best Team) and Andrew Kent (Best Gross). Terry Bridger won the ‘Nearest the Pin’ competition and Chris Emms was awarded ‘Longest Drive’.
