Homebase extends Macmillan Cancer Support partnership

Homebase has extended its partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, after raising more than £100,000 to fund nursing since 2019.

The new aim is to provide home-related grants. These grants will support those affected by cancer, and their families with the extra costs that living with cancer can bring.

People living with cancer can use a Macmillan grant, a one-off payment of £350, to help keep them safe and comfortable in their homes. The grant can be used towards everything from essential home upgrades and energy bills to items that can improve day to day living such as duvets, microwaves, clothing and washing machines, and even a break from cancer treatments.

‘Our team voted to work with Macmillan and have done an excellent job over the last two years raising money to help support its services in communities across the UK. By making a longer-term commitment to our partnership we can focus our support on home-related grants and help those living with cancer feel safe and comfortable in their homes,’ says Claire Abercrombie, Homebase director of customer and communications.

‘I’m extremely proud of all the work Homebase has already done to raise over £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. All the money raised by Homebase will now be going towards funding Macmillan’s home-related grant scheme. Thank you to Homebase for the continued support, and I look forward to seeing what our partnership can achieve over the next three years,’ says Natasha Parker, Macmillan head of corporate partnerships.
